Announcing iDo, Rails GTD To-Do App
Reinventing the wheel isn't always bad, especially when you have a different take on it.
I'm an early adopter to the iPhone (although I didn't stand in line). The GTD application I was using didn't feel right on the iPhone, and the interface was lacking anyways IMHO.
So, I give you iDo, my take on the GTD to-do application. It has both a standard browser interface, and an interface tailored for the iPhone.
I'm a bit biased, but I love the interface on the iPhone. I can pull up my errand list while I'm in the store, and then mark items as complete right then and there. I love it!

Excellent application!!!
I was toying around with ways to perform my GTD on my new iPhone. Having used Palm for many years and seeing how it is declining I hung on to it just to use one program (Note Studio) Unfortunately, Note Studio will no longer be available.
I find iDo to be simple, beautiful and very useful an powerful. Kudos to you!!!
I am paying for my registered copy shortly and I will recommend it to all iPhone users I know (as well as non iPhone users)
PS I just paid for the paid version. Thanks again!

What is the privacy policy dealing with the information that I post for my projects, tasks, etc?

One thing I've noticed: text added in notes is not formatted. Is there a way to include the textarea formatting in the note display? Maybe a replace on the \n with a br tag? If the community disagrees with this, then nevermind...
Peter Jones
Marc,
The data you enter into iDo is yours, and will never be used by anyone other than yourself.
As far as formatting, the text in notes is formated using Textile.

Hi Peter,
iDo is looking good. I just did a search of plenty of GTD apps (I'm a purist myself) and iDo is the most true to GTD and looks right on the iPhone. That it looks right is really important to this graphic designer. I certainly hope that you are planning a desktop app for when the iPhone SDK comes out!
I'm going to move everything I have over and see if it works out. If so I'll be glad to send the $ for the contribution.
Good luck to you.
Thanks, Maurice

This looks interesting guys, but a page that offers no actions other than signing-up or logging-in is not very good at selling your product. I want to see more examples before I commit to anything..
Peter Jones
Very good point. I basically turned off the sign-up action a few months ago, and this project has gone on the back burner.
If I ever do something like this again, I’ll make sure there are plenty of examples and worthwhile things to play with.
